Don't Let the Cold Ruin Your Dive
One of the biggest myths about Egypt is that it is "always hot." While the sun is scorching on land, the Red Sea has seasons too. There is nothing worse than shivering during a safety stop or running through your air too fast because your body is trying to keep warm.
At Dive More Group, we want you to be comfortable. Whether you are joining us for
The Golden Rule
It is always better to be slightly too warm than too cold. You can always let a little water in to cool down, but you can't add heat once you are freezing at 20 meters!
1. Summer (June – September)
Water Temp: 26°C – 30°C
Recommendation: 3mm Shorty or 3mm Long Suit.
The Vibe: It’s like jumping into a warm bath. Many divers are happy in just a rash guard and board shorts, but we recommend a 3mm suit for protection against coral scrapes and jellyfish stings.
2. The "Shoulder" Seasons (October – November & April – May)
Water Temp: 24°C – 26°C
Recommendation: 5mm Full Suit.
Why? The water feels nice on the first dive, but by the second or third dive of the day, your core temperature drops. A 5mm suit ensures you stay cozy all day long.
3. Winter (December – March)
Water Temp: 20°C – 23°C
Recommendation: 5mm Full Suit (with Hood) or 7mm.
Pro Tip: Don't underestimate the wind! The water isn't freezing, but the wind on the boat deck can be chilly. A hood or a vest underneath your suit makes a huge difference. If you get cold easily, bring a 7mm semi-dry.
Factors That Change Everything
Repetitive Diving: If you are on a
doing 4 dives a day, you lose body heat faster. Upgrade your thickness (wear a 5mm even in summer).Liveaboard Safari Photography: If you move slowly to take photos, you generate less body heat. Dress warmer.
