Discover Scuba Diving, or DSD, is PADI's program for people who have never dived and want to do it properly. It is not just a quick try-out. It is a short, structured lesson, led by a PADI professional, that gives you a real taste of the Open Water Diver course.First you learn the basics: how diving works, how to breathe underwater and the safety rules every diver follows. Then you practice the key skills in shallow, calm water until you feel comfortable. Only then do you take your first dive in the Red Sea, with your instructor next to you the whole time. You don't need any experience or certification, and you don't need to be a strong swimmer to start. All learning materials and diving equipment are included, so you only need to bring your swimwear and a towel.DSD is not a certification. It does not qualify you to dive on your own. If you enjoy it, the next step is the PADI Open Water Diver course, and your instructor can tell you how your DSD experience fits into it.You will fill in a short medical questionnaire before the lesson. Depending on your answers, a doctor's approval may be needed.
